Fashion Jewelry Care

SOBELLA Jewelry mainly uses 14K gold-filled findings. Gold-filled is a thick layer of 14K gold, pressure bonded over a metal, usually brass. 14K gold-filled materials are 1/20 14K gold and is much thicker than gold plated or vermeil findings, which are made by a different process.  Gold-filled jewelry should not tarnish and should maintain its luster with care (avoid contact with water to maintain luster.)

Vermeil is gold plated over sterling silver that is electroplated.  Since the layer of gold in vermeil is very thin, the underlying sterling silver can tarnish and darken the metal over time.

Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper.  Sterling silver tarnishes easily but can be restored with a polishing cloth.

Avoid wearing jewelry when swimming or taking a shower. When you are not wearing your jewelry, store it in separate compartments or anti-tarnish bag.
